This month I’ve been fascinated with learning all about perspective, it definitely is a case of when maths meets art! I feel having basic perspective brings a sketch together and helps the sketch to be more visually engaging. There is a beauty in perspective which I only now appreciate because of Stephenie Bower.
Stephenie Bower has fantastic classes on Craftsy and she really makes understanding perspective easy to understand. Her book is a brilliant reference source and I highly recommend it. Your sketches and how you see the world will never be the same again!
I’ve also enjoyed working in a mechanical pencil (2B). The amount of variation and line you can get is brilliant and it’s easier to carry around. I think I will be working in pencil for a few months.
I tried to participate in the sketch 100 people in a week challenge however I didn’t manage to make it!! I think, for me, I much prefer sketching buildings compared to people. I wonder if everyone has preference for one or the other?
