I struggle to paint realistically and drawing detail stops the fun of sketching and painting especially if you haven’t got much patience – like me! Recently, sitting down with my paintbrush became hard work because I was becoming a slave to detail. So, I decided to make a change, let loose and just paint with no details in sight!
The above painting was my attempt at seeing shapes, working large to small and keeping my colour palette simple.
It is purely imaginative and based on a view I see on my way to work. It did feel strange painting from my memory and imagination especially when I enjoy working on location. However, painting this way was fun and I think I might open my sketchbook a little more frequently.
Very nice and I like you palette! The painting is fresh.
